The signage system for the MDK office building was conceived as a natural extension of the architecture, ensuring that wayfinding supports rather than disrupts the user experience. Developed alongside the building’s design by MVA (Mikelić Vreš Arhitekti), the system prioritizes intuitive orientation—placing signs at key decision points and along natural movement paths to deliver information exactly when needed. Materials, proportions, and finishes echo the building’s restrained aesthetic, while the clarity of Marko Hrastovec’s Exat typeface reinforces legibility and visual precision throughout the space.
A key element of the signage design is a recurring circular cut-out, directly referencing the building’s striking top view with a central void. This circular hole is not merely decorative—it mirrors the architecture’s core gesture, symbolizing the central atrium and tying the signage back to the spatial identity of the structure. It also serves a functional role by framing key information and reinforcing spatial memory, making the signage both a visual cue and a subtle reminder of the building’s organization. The result is a system that communicates clearly, blends harmoniously with its surroundings, and deepens the architectural experience.
